• Use email instead of texts or MMS messages. Turn Fetch New Data ON: Check e-mail and sync contacts and calendars automatically instead of having the data pushed to your iPhone manually. To turn on the Auto-Check functionality tap on Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data. Change Push to “On”.
• Send text messages via email. It will be for free with KeepGo International 3G data SIM cards. To send SMS text messages to any cell phone in the US using email, just use the recipient’s 10-digit phone number including area code as the first part of the email address (without any dashes or hyphens).
Use the table below to figure out the last half of the email address for each major phone carrier:
Phone Carrier SMS Text Email Address
AT&T cellnumber@txt.att.net
Verizon cellnumber@vtext.com
Sprint cellnumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile cellnumber@tmomail.net
Nextel cellnumber@messaging.nextel.com
Alltel cellnumber@message.alltel.com
Virgin Mobile cellnumber@vmobl.com
US Cellular cellnumber@email.uscc.net
Metro PCS cellnumber@mymetropcs.com
Type your text message as the email subject and don’t worry about entering a message body, but remember there’s a 140 character limit to text messages so keep it brief just like you would if you were using your cell phone.
* Download dedicated applications that are tailored for text messaging, like WhatsApp. WhatsApp offers its users a simple and easy client that integrates with your contacts list to allow you to send texts, photos, videos, voice files, group chat (up to 10 people) and even your GPS location. As you download the app, enter your phone number and country code and the app will send you a text message to confirm your identity.
Once you complete the simple setting up stage the app will integrate your contact list and check who is already connected to WhatsApp – so you can start communicating for free with the people on your contact list. One of the best things about WhatsApp is its platform reach – iOS, Andorid, Blackberry and Symbian (even the ancient Symbian S40) are all supported. WhatsApp has become so popular, that it recently crossed the 1 billion messages per day mark, congrats!
* Consider downloading all-in-one applications that combine voice, video and chat for a full suite of communication options; like Skype, Viber, iCall, Fring, Yahoo messenger and many others.
And don’t forget getting a 3G internet SIM from KeepGo to enjoy 3G-ing to the full !
